Day 60: Follow-up Interview

At the 60-day follow-up interview review with the grantee/other parent any progress made on previous referrals.

Additionally, by Day 60 for those clients subject to Pre-Benefit Job Search, you will need to enter the Work Ready Referral/Job Search Log 2 or the Initial Job Search Referral/Log 2 on the Pre-Benefit Job Search Results page for those clients who must do Pre-Benefit Job Search.

Reminder:

If the client does not return the Initial Job Search Referral/Log 2 or the log does not reflect three job contacts without good cause, the grantee or other parent is closed.  If the client claims good cause, the case must not be denied as long as the client provides proof of good cause following established procedures.  This must be noted on the Narrative tab.

If the client does not return the Work Ready Referral/Job Search Log 2 or the log does not reflect three job contacts, the entire case is closed.  If the client claims good cause, the case must not be denied as long as the client provides proof of good cause following established procedures.  This must be noted on the Narrative tab.

If the grantee/other parent does not provide the verification of employment, Employment Supports, Full Employment Program (FEP) employment, Community Service, or enrollment in an ESP activity, you must explore Good Cause.

If on day 60 (or any day within the Work Program requirement period) a grantee/other parent claims good cause, you must:

  1. give the grantee/other parent a Verification Checklist (VC-1) with a 10-day time limit requiring proof of the good cause reason for failure to comply with the Work Program requirement, and

  2. complete the interview, paying special attention to select the appropriate Meets Compliance reason from the Compliance drop-down box on the Work Requirements TAFDC page

If within the 10 days a grantee/other parent has not returned proof of the good cause reason and is not fulfilling the Work Program requirement, go to the Work Requirements TAFDC page and change the Meets Compliance reason to Participation.  This will start the sanction process.

If at the day-60 interview, the grantee/other parent has, without good cause, not found work and is not meeting the Work Program requirement, an Employment Development Plan (EDP) is automatically created and a referral to community service in the TAO is created.

The grantee/other parent may also be referred to another ESP activity, by:

  1. checking the Resource page to determine what activity slots are available and

Important:

Failure to complete an EDP on day 60 will result in a mandated EDP being generated on day 61 in the overnight batch process.  On day 62, the case will appear in the Mandated TEMP – Site Referral Required view under TAFDC Work Program Required Tracking.

  1. creating a Referral and Response Form assigning the grantee/other parent to an available community service site or other ESP activity, where the grantee/other parent must start participating within the next ten days.

Important:

You must call the community service site to confirm availability.  If not available, a new referral must be generated.

You must then explain to the grantee/other parent that if s/he does not return proof of participation, the sanction process will begin.

If a TAFDC Work Program required grantee/other parent is sanctioned, meets compliance, good cause or an exemption will suspend the automated sanction process.

If a TAFDC Work Program required grantee/other parent is at sanction Level 3 (grantee/other parent closure) or Level 4 (case closure) and is about to have a meets compliance or good cause reason expire, 20 days before the end of the expiration s/he will receive a Work Program required notice informing him/her that the meets compliance reason is expiring.  A community service referral will be sent to the grantee/other parent on the expiration date.  The grantee/other parent will have 10 days to enroll in a community service and/or other activity to meet the Work Program requirement.  If the grantee/other parent does not submit proof of enrollment within the 10-day period, the sanction will occur.
