Work Ready Client Responsibilities

If after the initial assessment the applicant is determined Work Ready-required, the applicant is issued a Work Ready Referral/Job Search Log 1.

The applicant must make 3 job contacts to meet this job search requirement. One of the contacts is the mandatory TAFDC Group Orientation session.

Note:

Orientation will be prefilled on the Work Ready Referral/Job Search Log 1. The applicant must enter the date s/he attended the TAFDC Group Orientation. Attendance must be verified by the Full Engagement Worker (FEW), who is responsible for tracking TAFDC Group Orientation attendance on the Schedule Appointment page when a client completes, misses or reschedules a TAFDC Group Orientation session.  Cash Supervisors in the FEW’s TAO also have the ability to record TAFDC Group Orientation attendance if the FEW is out of the office.

Applicants must return the completed Work Ready Referral/Job Search Log 1, no later than day 30 of the application, as a condition of eligibility.

Note:

The Work Ready Referral/Job Search Log 1 will be listed on the VC-1.

If the applicant returns a properly completed log, enter this information on the Job Search Activity tab of the Pre-Benefit Job Search Results page.  On the Results tab, enter whether the applicant was hired or, if not, why not.  The case cannot be established until all other eligibility verification is returned and the Work Ready Referral/Job Search Log 1 information is entered.

Note:

In a two-parent case, if both parents are considered Work Ready required, both parents must fill out a log.

If the applicant does not return the log or the log does not reflect three job contacts, and the applicant does not have good cause, the entire case is denied assistance.  You must go to the AU Composition results page and select: Noncooperation for the Reason category and Failure to comply with the Work Ready Job Search requirement for the Reason.   A client who claims good cause must not be closed as long as the client provides proof of good cause following established procedures. This must be noted on the Narrative tab.

    1. enter the date in the Return field

    2. click select under the Good Cause field

    3. select the appropriate reason or reasons from the pop-up box

    4. click Select; and

    5. complete the PreBenefit JobSearch Results page, including the Results tab.

Note:

If the applicant did not return the log or the log does not reflect three job contacts or the client does not claim good cause, and there are additional outstanding mandatory verifications, they will appear on the closing notice as missing verification.

The information to be entered on the Pre-Benefit Job Search Results page is as follows:

On the Job Search Activity tab:

    1. Date the applicant attended Orientation (the Orientation information will be populated with the date from BEACON, if attended since the date of application)

      2. Activity (free format)

      3. Location (free format)

      4. Contact (free format)

      5. Phone Number

On the Results tab:

If #3 is No, then capture Why:

      1. No locally available jobs for which the client is qualified

Note:

A client who answers yes to any of these questions must have the check box selected for that answer.  If the client does not identify it as a reason for not securing employment, do not check the box.

Once the case is established, a full Pathways to Self-Sufficiency Assessment is done.  The client is also issued the Work Ready Referral/Job Search Log 2 that must be returned, completed and entered by Day 60.  The Work Ready Referral/Job Search Log 2 must list three more client job contacts.  Failure to return the completed log without good cause will result in the closing of the case.  A client who claims good cause must not be closed as long as the client provides proof of good cause following established procedures. This must be noted on the Narrative tab.

    1. enter the date in the Return field

    2. click select under the Good Cause field

    3. select the appropriate reason or reasons from the pop-up box

Note:

The Work Ready Referral/Job Search Log 2 will not list the TAFDC Group Orientation session as one of the job contacts unless the client’s case status changes from exempt to nonexempt after the case is established.
