Eligibility Requirements
A noncitizen lawfully residing in the United States is an eligible noncitizen for SNAP purposes when they are:
a member of a Hmong or Highland Laotian tribe at the time the tribe rendered assistance to U.S. personnel by taking part in a military or rescue operation during the Vietnam Era beginning August 5, 1964 and ending May 7, 1975; or
a spouse, surviving spouse or an unmarried dependent child of the Hmong or other Highland Laotian tribe.
Verification of Immigration Status
A statement to be signed by one adult household member that certifies, under penalty of perjury, the truth of the information contained in the application, including the information concerning citizenship and alien status of all household members. Once provided, you must review the immigrant status through the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE). This is done by accessing the SAVE system, selecting the Create New Case button in the SAVE system and completing the request form. If SAVE returns no information, you must accept the written self-declaration as proof of immigration status.
